Career Summary

With a degree in Journalism from Southern Cross University and further studies across health-related subjects at the University of New England and select fitness institutions, Anna has worked with prestigious clients including News Corp, the ABC, and Women's Health.

Her long-form health and lifestyle articles have been featured in more than 30 lifestyle magazines, including Australian Women’s Weekly. She’s known for creating easy-to-read, fact-filled copy and making content more engaging. Her approach to editing is nurturing and collaborative, ensuring high-quality results delivered on time.

“I’m lucky to learn so much about healthy living through my work. I get paid to research and write on what I care about.”

Anna Faulkner’s Writing Philosophy

As an old-school journalist, Anna’s approach is research-based and thorough. Having studied all aspects of journalism and spent her formative years in a busy newsroom, she’s used to adapting to different clients and topics quickly, while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy and clarity.

Her newsroom background means she thrives on tight deadlines and has experience in editing her copy ruthlessly. She still often refers back to best practice learned both in the class and newsrooms, including the advice to “kill [her] darlings” when finalising copy. (Attributed to various authors, this is a reminder not to be attached to any of the parts you consider clever in your writing, but to edit with a fresh mind on each edit.)

Q&A with Anna Faulkner

Wow. There are just so many. I believe the best piece of advice is to just take it one step at a time when it comes to habit change. Most people get overwhelmed by lofty goals.

That most women are eating way too little protein. (Which can cause all sorts of nasty symptoms and essentially keeps us functioning well below our capacity.)

It tries to oversell… It's usually pretty sparse on references and facts. If it sounds too good to be true, well, you know it typically is.

A bit of a personal story. I saw at a pretty early age what kind of difference good or bad choices can make in the long run. When you see adults who suffer from their bad lifestyle choices, including rotting teeth and constant pain, that leaves an impression.
